About new library items
Summary
Ever wondered what's new at the library location near you? In this section of EveryBlock, we publish lists of new works of fiction, nonfiction and biographies and new DVDs added by at one of the more than 20 locations of the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.
"New," in this case, means books published or DVDs released within the past several months. If such a book or DVD is checked out at one location and returned to another, the title shows up as "new" at the return location.
The listings don't include materials designated for children.

The information comes from the library system's online catalog. The library system updates its listings constantly, and we at EveryBlock publish a new list each day.
Other notes about the library system
Not all new book and DVDs will be available for immediate checkout. Some will have been reserved, some are in transit or on order, and some might be checked out soon after they are returned. Patrons of the library can place a request for these items when they become available.
There are more than 20 branches in the library system, five of which are outside Charlotte city limits. That means arrivals at branches in Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Matthews and Mint Hill will not show up on EveryBlock.
However, EveryBlock does list how many copies of an title are available for checkout, and those figures include titles found in the five branches outside of the city.
Each location has a collection designed to cover a service area of not more than 10 miles. However, the Main Library at 310 N. Tryon St., and Imaginon, The Joe and Joan Martin Center, 300 E. 7th St., have collections designed to serve residents from across Mecklenburg County.
Here's a list of every library location.
