About significant police events
Summary
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department publishes an online list of "significant events" — which include robberies, assaults, homicides and many other types of crime. In this section of EveryBlock, we publish recent significant events when they occur within Charlotte's city limits, so you know when major crime occurs near you.
The reports list the location and date of the event, the police division where it occurred, the incident type (robbery, assault, breaking and entering, etc.), a complaint number and an officer's description of the event.
Note that this is not a full list of crimes in Charlotte, and that the police department's significant event log is based on preliminary field reports. Details of each event can change during an investigation.

The data comes from the significant event log maintained by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. The police constantly update the log, and we at EveryBlock retrieve new data six times a day.
