21 Steele Creek

The Steele Creek Division comprises 60.6 square miles in the southwest section of Mecklenburg County. In addition to numerous residential, commercial and industrial areas, Steele Creek Division also borders a large section of Lake Wylie.

• 100 block of Red Roof Dr. Robbery from person—armed

  The victim reported that two suspects attempted to rob them with a handgun. The victim fought with the suspects causing the gun to be fired. One suspect sustained a minor injury to their hand and then drove themself to Presbyterian Hospital for treatment of a NLT injury. Robbery detectives were contacted.

• 1200 block of Lakemist Dr. Robbery from person—armed

  The victim reported being robbed at gunpoint by two black male suspects. The first suspect was wearing dark clothing and the second had on a blue sweatshirt. The suspects fled the scene in a Chevrolet Silverado truck with tinted windows. No injuries.

• 9000 block of Nations Ford Road Assault with a deadly weapon-with injury

  Officers are investigating an incident involving a male victim being stabbed in the abdomen. The victim arrived at CMC-Pineville with a stab wound to the abdomen, but was transported to CMC-Main. The victim is advising that his wound occurred at approx 2100 hours. The victim is intoxicated and is not cooperative at this time. Investigation continuing.

• 1100 block of Nations Drive Robbery from person—armed

  2 B/Fs were robbed as they exited their vehicle at the above location. An armed B/M came from around the corner and took both of the females' purses then fled the scene on foot. Suspect was wearing a gray and red hoodie. No injuries, no shots fired.

• 8400 block of Lodge South Circle Assist fire department

  Assisted CFD with an apartment fire at the Sun Valley Apartments. Red Cross was contacted to assist 4 families displaced from their units.

• 200 block of W. Arrowood Rd. Robbery from business—armed

  The Family Dollar was robbed at gunpoint by a black male wearing a dark jacket with fur around the hood. The suspect fled on foot. No injuries.

• 15800 block of Umbrella Lane Robbery from person—armed

  At least 2 suspects forced entry into the apartment. When officers arrived one of the suspects jumped from the apartment, injured his leg and was taken into custody. Another suspect was located nearby and was detained. Several subjects were interviewed by Robbery Detectives in regards to this investigation. There were no injuries to any of the occupants of the residence. No shots fired.

• 10000 block of Cloisters Club Ln. Robbery from person—armed

  The victims reported being robbed at gunpoint by two black male suspects with one wearing a yellow jacket and one Hispanic male suspect. The suspects were in a green Infiniti but stole the victims' 1998 silver Mercedes E320 bearing NC YZE6623. No injuries.

  A pizza delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint by a B/M suspect who fled the area on foot. No Injuries.

  A probation officer had shots fired at them but was not struck by the bullets. A vehicle pursuit ensued with the suspect being arrested near Freeland Dr.

  The victim reported being robbed at gunpoint by a Hispanic male suspect, unshaven wearing a gray sweatshirt. The suspect fled on foot. No injuries.

• 7800 block of Forest Point Blvd. Robbery from person—strong arm

  The victim reported that a white male suspect, wearing a tee shirt, red baseball hat and jeans physically assuaulted them and took property. The suspect then fled the scene in an older model sedan. No injuries.

  The victim reported being robbed at knife point by a white male suspect, red tee shirt, jeans and a beard. The suspect fled on foot. No injuries.

• 1500 block of Westinghouse Blvd Robbery from person—armed

  Victim employee from The Pantry South Tryon @ Westinghouse was making deposit @ Wachovia night deposit when armed suspect, B/M, 30-40 yr old, 5'7", 130-150 lbs., took the deposit bag from her.

  Employee of Petro Express making deposit @ night deposit/Wachovia..pushed in the back to the ground. Suspect (unk race), male, gray jumpsuit, dark hoodie, rag over face to deposit bag. Left on foot twd Old Pineville Rd.

• 1900 block of Sharon Road West Robbery from person—strong arm

  H/F was followed by 2 suspects while she was walking down the sidewalk. One suspect walked in front of the victim talking to her and then without any provocation struck her in the face knocking her to the ground. The suspects took her purse and fled on foot. A suspect was located a short distance away after K-9 tracked and he was arrested. The victim sustained minor injuries to her face. Property was recovered. Great Work!

  The Towneplace Suites Hotel was robbed by a B/M suspect armed with a handgun. The suspect fled the area on foot. No injuries.

• 11800 block of Woffington Court Breaking and entering residential-occupied

  Three BM suspects broke into an occupied residence and fled the scene on foot. All three suspects were taken into custody after Steele Creek Division officers set up a perimeter search. The K-9 Unit assisted in the search.

• 28000 block of Yorkmont Road Bomb—suspicious item found

  Workers located a suspicious package located inside one of the drop boxes. CMPD Bomb Squad and CFD responded. Bomb Squad collected the package and took it to the ATF Office to be examined and disposed of. NFI

  P3893 was operating PDA 558 and was involved in a minor accident. No injuries. Sgt. Hildebrand is handling the investigation.

• 700 block of Farmhurst Drive Death investigation

  11 month old male found in bathtub by mother who had walked away briefly. Child was transported to CMC-Main where he was pronounced a short time later. Homicide and Youth Services Detectives assisting with this investigation per protocol.

• S. Tryon Street & Yager Creek Drive Accident—personal Injury

  13 yr old female ran across the road in front of traffic and was struck by a vehicle that was travelling inbound on S. Tryon St. The female is seriously injured, but it is unknown at this time if her injuries are LT. HITS responded to assist with the investigation.

  Two subjects received non-life threatening injuries from the result of a disagreement over a business transaction. This is not a random act of violence. Three suspects are in custody.

• 800 block of Farmhurst Dr. Robbery from person—strong arm

  The victim reported that they were physically assaulted and robbed by two black males in dark clothing. The suspects fled on foot. The victim was transported to CMC for treatment of a NLT injury.

• 8900 block of Windsong Drive Death—natural

  Male subject died of apparent natural causes.

• 1100 block of Lakemist Drive Robbery from person—armed

  2 H/M victims were talking in the parking lot when they were approached by 2 B/M suspects who were armed and demanded property from them. Officers pulled up as the robbery was occurring and chased the suspects on foot. 1 was captured quickly, the other one about an hour later. 2 females were also arrested in reference to this robbery. Robbery is interviewing the arrested suspects. No injuries, no shots fired and the victims' property was recovered. Great Job!

• 7300 block of S. Tryon St. Accident—personal Injury

  Officer Pogue was driving north bound on S. Tryon when two young boys ran across the street. Officer Pogue's marked police vehicle struck the second child, 10 years old, who suffered a broken leg. CMPD PIO has already distributed a press release on this incident. HITS is investigating. There are no updates.

  The victim reported that he was robbed at gunpoint by either a B/M or H/M suspect in the parking lot of Wal Mart.
